On Tuesday, 29 May 2012, Dr. Nelly Lahoud, Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences and Senior Associate at the Combating Terrorism Center, was the featured speaker at a seminar sponsored by the New America Foundation entitled, “Osama bin Laden and al-Qai’da: Lessons from the Abbottabad Documents.” The presentation emphasized that the thin volume of the declassified documents makes it impossible to present conclusive findings as to the state of al-Qai’da today. The focus of Dr. Lahoud’s presentation was on al-Qai’da’s relationship with regional jihadi groups and its reported relationship with Iran and Pakistan. The presentation was televised by C-SPAN.
