From 25-27 October, Dr. Jason Warner, the Combating Terrorism Center’s Africa subject matter expert, served as part of a U.S. delegation participating in the First Annual U.S. – African Union Countering Violent Extremism Week, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Intended to encourage greater U.S. and African partner state collaboration on identifying and addressing the drivers of extremism in Africa, the meeting was attended by members of the African Union, representatives from various African international organizations, and members of civil society.
