The image includes several commonly used jihadi visual motifs in an image commemorating two jihadist fighters: “`Azam al-Muhajir” and “Abu Mujahid.”   In the background, is an image of Abu Mus‘ab al-Zarqawi, former leader of al-Qa’ida in Iraq, who was killed 7 June 2006.

The caption in the image reads: “ila al-jannat, al-hur, ila al-na‘im” (“to the gardens of paradise, to the virgins, to the grace [of God]”). The nouns in the three phrases are designed to trigger a number of familiar Qur’anic texts that contain the same words, although not necessarily a specific Qur’anic verse. The background is clearly meant to evoke paradise and martyrdom.
