On 20-21 June, Combating Terrorism Center Director Brian Dodwell, Director of Research Daniel Milton, and Director of Strategic Initiatives Don Rassler presented research at the 2019 Society for Terrorism Research Conference in Oslo, Norway, on June 20-21. The general focus of their research was on the use of captured enemy material for strategic understanding of terrorist organizations, with specific presentations focused on the Islamic State’s Khorasan branch and the Islamic State’s media activities.

The trip also included a visit to Utoya island, one of the sites of the 2011 terrorist attack. It was a powerful and informative experience in which CTC leadership heard from police, a psychologist, and a survivor about the events of that day and their impacts.
