The Center’s Homeland Security and Defense course partners with the FDNY’s Center for Counterterrorism and Disaster Preparedness to conduct a formal simulation of a homeland security catastrophic event. This capstone exercise exposes cadets to the Incident Command System and allows them to leverage both their subject matter knowledge gained throughout the semester as well as their leadership training that they have honed throughout their West Point experience.
We Teach: As an institution, we embrace the unique responsibility to prepare cadets to think critically about the challenges they will face during war and peace. To this end, the Center directs multiple graduate-level seminars on Terrorism and Counterterrorism and administers a minor in terrorism studies that focuses on an interdisciplinary approach to understanding these complex issues.
