Prof. Mark Juergensmeyer, the director of the Orfalea Center for Global and International Studies and affiliate professor of religious studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, visited the CTC on September 19th. He participated in a round table discussion with CTC research staff before lecturing a combined audience of SS465 and Terrorism minor cadets as well as other members of the Academy. Professor Juergensmeyer’s lecture focused on characteristics of contemporary manifestations of religious extremism and violence, as well as on how we can study and understand these phenomena.
