Forty-six cadets in the Combating Terrorism Center’s Terrorism Studies minor traveled to New York City on 1 November. At the first event, they received a personalized tour of the 9/11 Museum and Memorial, followed by a trip to the Freedom Tower and its Observation Deck. After lunch, cadets heard from the Indian police officer in charge of the response to the 2008 Mumbai terror attack by Lashkar-e-Taiba. After lunch, Robert Matticola, head of Homeland Security for the New York/New Jersey Waterway, reserved an entire ferry to give cadets a tour of maritime terror targets on the Hudson River before they departed for West Point.
