On 19 November, the FDNY and the Combating Terrorism Center teamed up for the now biannual “FDNY – CTC Crisis Simulation” in Brooklyn, New York, which is the capstone event for SS464: Homeland Security and Defense. Cadets were assigned roles within the Incident Command System and tasked with responding to a homeland security crisis: “Hurricane Kelly.” Cadets learned a great deal about crisis leadership under pressure and the importance of developing effective communication techniques to coordinate among the various agencies involved in a response effort to a homeland security incident.

Special thanks go to Captain Mike Nigro and Chief Thomas Currao of the FDNY’s Counterterrorism and Emergency Preparedness for all their effort in putting together another terrific simulation exercise for our cadets.
