On May 6, the Combating Terrorism Center was honored to host LTG(R) H.R. McMaster, former National Security Advisor, for the final meeting of the semester of its inaugural cadet book club. The book club chose McMaster’s Battlegrounds: The Fight to Defend the Free World (2020) for its selected reading, and the group met several times to discuss the author’s assessments and analysis.
During the virtual discussion, LTG(R) McMaster discussed the range of threats facing the United States, including terrorism, as well as provided insights into how to meet and overcome these complex geopolitical issues. In addition to discussing U.S. strategy on Iran, Afghanistan, and Russia, he also shared his candid perspectives on how to provide effective leadership at the highest levels of government. Over two dozen faculty and cadets attended the fascinating discussion.
