Major Mat Scott graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2007 and was commissioned as an Infantry officer. As a lieutenant and junior captain, Mat served as a Platoon Leader and Adjutant in the 25th Infantry Division; and as a Ranger Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer in 2d Ranger Battalion.

As a senior captain, Mat served as an Operations Officer and Company Commander in the 4thInfantry Division; and as a staff officer in 1st Ranger Battalion. Following his time at 1st Ranger Battalion, Mat attended ILE at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, R.I. earning a master’s degree in Defense and Strategic Studies.

Following the Naval War College, Mat served at 2nd Ranger Battalion as the Liaison, Operations and Executive officer. Mat was subsequently stationed at the Pentagon for two years as the Aide-de-Camp to the Secretary of the Army. Mat has spent over 35 months deployed to Afghanistan.

Mat is currently enrolled at Georgetown University and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Security Studies. He and his wife, Stormy, have two daughters and reside in Virginia.
