Colonel Rob Shaw served an Enlisted Infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division, graduated from the United States Military Academy Preparatory School, and he commissioned from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1999. He holds master’s degrees in public policy from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts as a General Wayne Downing Scholar, Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and he is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI Fellowship.
Colonel Shaw’s command assignments include Director of an INDOPACOM joint team; Commander of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division; Joint Special Operations Task Force Commander, Bagram, Afghanistan; Joint Special Operations Task Force Commander, Kabul, Afghanistan; Commander of the Regimental Special Troops Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment; Commander of the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team; Joint Special Operations Task Force Commander, Iraq; Commander of D Company, 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment; Commander of H Company, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, United States Army Europe; Commander of B Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division in Mosul, Iraq.
His staff assignments include Executive Officer to the US Army’s Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, Aide de Camp to the 38th and 39th Chiefs of Staff of the United States Army; Executive Officer, Operations Officer, and Joint Plans Officer for 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment; Joint Special Operations Task Force Operations Officer, Iraq; Joint Special Operations Task Force Operations Officer, Afghanistan; Battalion Assistant Operations Officer for 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment; Battalion Logistics Officer for 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Afghanistan.
Colonel Shaw deployed in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM (Afghanistan), OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM (Iraq), OPERATION NEW DAWN (Iraq), OPERATION FREEDOM SENTINEL (Afghanistan) and OPERATION RESOLUTE SUPPORT (Afghanistan) as well as regional initiatives in U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and U.S. European Command.
Colonel Shaw is a distinguished member of the 75th Ranger Regiment, 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment and the 35th Infantry Regiment. His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Master Infantryman badge, Master Parachutist badge, Military Freefall Parachutist badge, and the Ranger Tab.
Colonel Shaw and his wife Sherry have been married for 25 years and have two children.
