Captain Markos Magaña is a native of Fresno, CA, and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2014. As an Infantry Officer, Markos was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, where he served as a Rifle and Scout Platoon Leader. In this assignment, Markos deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Markos was then assigned to the Joint Special Operations Command, where he deployed to Iraq and Syria in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
As a Special Forces Officer, Markos served as a Detachment Commander in the 3rd Special Forces Group, where he deployed twice in support of Special Operations Command Africa. Markos was then reassigned to the Joint Special Operations Command. In this assignment, he deployed in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel.
His military education includes the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course, Ranger School, Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course, Airborne School, Special Operations Jumpmaster Course, Basic Military Mountaineering Course, Special Operations Forces Captain’s Career Course, and the Special Forces Qualification Course.
Markos is pursuing a Masters in International Policy specializing in Cyber Policy from the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University.
Markos is married to the former Jordan Greene of Mooresville, North Carolina.
