Captain Jon Chachula graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2009 and commissioned as an Infantry officer.
As a Gates Scholar, he went on to earn an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. Following the Infantry Officer Basic Leader Course and Ranger school, he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader in Able Company, 2–503d IN (ABN), 173d IBCT (A) in Vicenza, Italy, where he deployed once to Afghanistan. He also served as the HHC Executive Officer for the 173d IBCT (A).
Following completion of the ARSOF Captain’s Career Course and the Special Forces Qualification Course, Jon was awarded the Green Beret and assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group in 2015. As a Special Forces officer, Jon has served as a Detachment Commander, and as an Assault Force Commander and Executive Officer for the USSOUTHCOM Crisis Response Force. His deployments include combat and contingency operations in Syria, Colombia, Chile, and various other Latin American countries.
Captain Chachula is a graduate of the Special Forces Qualification Course, Ranger School, the Special Forces Advanced Reconnaissance Target Acquisition Exploitation Techniques Course (SFARTAETC), in addition to other military schools. As a Downing Scholar (‘21), Jon will be pursuing a Master’s in International Policy at Stanford University.
