Captain Derek Sipperly graduated from the United States Military Academy and commissioned as an Infantry officer in 2012. In his first assignment at the 101st Airborne Division, he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader and Mortar Platoon Leader.
Following the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, Derek was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division where he served as a Battalion Assistant Operations Officer and Rifle Company Commander. Derek then served in 3rd Ranger Battalion as the Assistant Liaison Officer, Training Officer and the Charlie Company Commander. Derek has deployed five times to Afghanistan and Africa.
Derek is pursuing a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is married to the former Rachel Farneti, and they have three children, Anna, Robert, and Nina.
