Captain Ben C. Hunter was commissioned into the Infantry Branch in October 2009, after graduating with honors from the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. After proudly serving in the enlisted ranks from 2001 to 2009 with the 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, CPT Hunter’s first assignment as a Commissioned Officer was with 4th BN, 9th Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team in October 2009. While assigned to 4th BN, 9th Infantry Regiment, CPT Hunter served as a Stryker Platoon Leader, Recon Platoon Leader, and Company Executive Officer. In 2012, CPT Hunter was then assigned to 1st Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, where he served as a Ranger Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer.
From 2014 to 2015, CPT Hunter was assigned to the Maneuver Center of Excellence, Fort Benning, Georgia, where he served as an Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commanding General and Infantry Commandant. In 2016, CPT Hunter served as a Mechanized Company Commander for Bco, 2-7IN, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team. He then was selected for a second command as the Brigade HHC Commander. Throughout his military career, CPT Hunter has deployed numerous times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. CPT Hunter is a graduate of the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course, U.S. Army Ranger School, Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, and Jumpmaster School. He was also selected to attend the French Infantry Captain’s Course in Draguignan, France. His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Troy University. CPT Hunter will be attending Duke Sanford School of Public Policy with a concentration in National Security. CPT Ben Hunter is married to the Lori Hunter from Birmingham, AL.
