CTC Africa expert Dr. Jason Warner was recently published—along with co-author Peter Volberding of Harvard University—by the China-Africa Research Initiative at Johns Hopkins University. Their working paper, entitled “China and uranium: Comparative possibilities for agency in statecraft in Niger and Namibia,” employed a comparative case study method along with extensive field work to examine how the entry of Chinese firms in African uranium markets has impacted the agency of host African states to pursue strategies of economic and social statecraft.
