Meet Cadet McClain Matter, the CTC Cadet of the Month for November 2024, and a Firstie at West Point. Born in Dallas, Texas, McClain is an Economics major with a minor in Terrorism Studies. McClain conducts research through the American Politics program and is a member of the Pistol Team where he is a two-time national qualifier. He also participated in the Service Academy Exchange Program to the United States Coast Guard Academy where he spent a week sailing along the East Coast on the USCGC EAGLE and played rugby.
Since joining the Terrorism Studies Minor, McClain has had the opportunity to intern at the Borders, Trade, and Immigration Institute, the National Security Agency, and the Defense Intelligence Agency. These opportunities allowed McClain to connect theory to practice while also bringing his experiences back to the Academy.
McClain hopes to commission in the United States Army as a Military Intelligence officer. In the future, McClain wants to start a business and give back to West Point and his community.
