Ky Schmidt graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 2015 and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer. Ky served as a Platoon Leader and Rifle Company Executive Officer in 4th Brigade, 25th Infantry Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK and as Headquarters and Headquarters Company Executive Officer in 3rd Ranger Battalion.
Following Maneuver Captains Career Course, he served as a staff officer and Company Commander in 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Most recently, he served as a staff officer and Headquarters and Headquarters Company Commander in 1st Ranger Battalion. Ky has deployed twice to Afghanistan.
Ky and his wife Alex have two daughters, Charlee and Frankie.
