CTC Non-Resident Fellow Dr. Scott Helfstein presented on conceptual issues in information and risk control at a plenary session of the Economic Crime Symposium held in Cambridge, UK on 2 September 2014. The discussion leveraged Dr. Helfstein’s work at CTC on the global illicit network illustrated in his “Risky Business” report. The analysis in the report shows how information – smart data along with big data – can be used to better understand a complex environment, and how such analysis can help reduce and manage risks in the financial and security sectors.
