CTC Non-Resident Fellow Dr. Scott Helfstein presented his research on the relationship between crime, terrorism, sanctions, and financial investigations at a U.S. Attorney Office’s event on material support. The Columbia, SC seminar was a forum for exchanging best practices for investigating and prosecuting material support to terrorism. Dr. Helfstein discussed findings of his recent CTC report Risky Business, particularly the investigative value of terrorists’ criminal ties. The talk also focused on how social network analysis can create a more complete picture in material support cases.
