Meet CDT Jacob Dluzak, the CTC Cadet of the Month for March 2022. Jacob comes from Palmdale, California, and is the son of Thomas and Leanda Dluzak. At West Point, Jacob is a senior majoring in International Affairs with minors in Terrorism Studies and Grand Strategy. Additionally, Jacob is the Cadet-in-Charge of the International Affairs Forum, a Senior Writing Fellow in the Mounger Writing Center, and a member of the West Point cyber policy team. Aside from academics, Jacob serves as the Brigade TRUST Operations Officer, a leadership position in which he plans and resources Sexual Harassment and Assault prevention programs for more than 4,000 cadets. Jacob is the Information Security Officer for the Class of 2022, an avid practitioner of Swahili, and a proud member of the Polish language and culture club.
Since joining the Terrorism Studies minor, Jacob has had the opportunity to intern with the Joint Staff’s Strategy, Plans, and Policy division (J5) in Arlington, Virginia. During his internship, Jacob was able to see how the J5 creates national-level policy and shapes strategies to counter near-peer and future terrorist threats. He received professional mentorship from countless field grade officers, attended dozens of briefings, and presented analysis to interagency partners.
Jacob is commissioning into the United States Army as an Ordnance officer and has follow-on training to become an Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer. In the future, Jacob aims to enter a long-term career in the development and aid community.
